This almost identical experience is on my list of things to write about. In fact, I just had the “Yes, actually, it is a cult” conversation with someone YESTERDAY. I was brought up SDA as well. I’m sure I would recognize the name of your private christian boarding school (as I explain it to other people), I myself went to SVA.

I’m glad I’m not alone out there! It’s funny how we were so defensive about protecting Adventism from being called a cult. The first argument I would have on it fitting a cult definition would be that they don’t let you socialize with people that aren’t Adventist.
