I was taught that dinosaurs just simply didn’t exist, and the devil put the fossils there to fool us. There wasn’t much talk of climate change when I was in school, but I’d imagine if there was our teachers would have argued: “God will save us from it.” Actually, there wasn’t much talk of anything to prepare me for the real world, just lots of bible classes. When I refused to go to a private christian college my mother couldn’t stop crying, screaming “They’re going to teach you evolution!”
So perhaps you are the well versed and intelligent person to answer this question that I have always wondered. If you’d rather not, that’s ok too. I mean it with respect, and a genuine desire to understand.
How does science and religion co-exist? I suppose I was taught from such a strict creationist perspective, that it has always seemed like one or the other. Either God made the world in 7 days and the Earth is only 6,000 years old, or dinosaurs existed. I hope you can shed some light on this issue for me.
Thanks for listening, and for writing!
