I too was brainwashed into a cult until I started to think for myself at about 16. I love to hear other’s stories about similar experiences, I guess it makes my experience feel more normal.

Anyway, I found a series of horrible poems of my own that I wrote in high school, so I thought I’d share one. Holy crap, right?!

Different cult, different girl, same garbage.

Conversations With God

Faither, why is life so hard, I have to ask. Getting through just one day is such a task.

Daughter, It’s because of sin. Your struggle and pain. But you are being watched over, you are under my reign.

Father, nobody loves me, I have no friends. This torture and pain never ends.

Daughter, I love you and I am your friend. The heartache you’re going through will soon fade away if you have faith. I guarantee you.

Father, why am I alive, I have no purpose on this Earth. I wish I could just disappear. My life has no worth.

Daughter, stop the nonsense. You are not worthless. You are my child, that gives you purpose.
